Explore the new California Campus at University High School (UHS) in San Francisco, an all-electric, net zero energy project designed to achieve LEED Platinum certification. Situated in a dense urban neighborhood along a multimodal transit corridor, this high-performance campus serves as UHS’s new “front door” and a model for ultra-efficient, climate-responsive design.
Despite significant site constraints, evolving program needs, and infrastructure challenges, the design team created a dynamic facility that blends a welcoming student commons, advanced STEM classrooms, maker spaces, and a 600+ seat gymnasium/assembly hall. The building integrates rooftop garden terraces irrigated by captured rainwater, healthy and flexible daylit learning environments, and community-focused gathering spaces.
This tour will highlight how the California Campus team met ambitious climate goals while delivering an inspiring setting for education and student life—where UHS’s Class of 2030 and beyond will learn, compete, celebrate, and forge lifelong connections.
